This Kiddie Corvette could be restored back to original or left as it sits. Either way it's an outstanding, and rare conversation piece to any collection.
The story behind this car: My grandpa worked at a Chevrolet body shop in the 50's and this car was given to him. It's been in the top rafters of his garage for last 50-something years and it was brought down and pictured a few days ago exactly as you see it. It's my understanding that most big dealerships were given 3 of these cars as promotions, while smaller, more remote dealerships had a harder time getting them. This particular car would have come from a smaller dealership in the 50's.
As appears to be the norm, this pedal car has a plastic, white body with a red interior and a pedal drive with what appears to be a 2 speed gear box, but it is missing the windshield, which also appears to be the norm for these cars.
Has not been cleaned or exposed to chemicals in order to preserve authenticity. Please ask any and all questions before the end of the auction.
Wear:
Without ever having seen one of these cars in perfect condition I will do the best to point out any missing items/blemishes. Please ask about anything you are unsure of that you feel may be missing and we can verify for you. Defects: Cracks in seat, crack on front bottom, crack on rear bottom, misc. paint fade and scuffs on body and trim---Missing: Windshield, Left head light lense, Left front head light and bezel, Right front parking light, Left front bumper, both side scallop trim pieces, Back bumpers---The paint still has shine to it regardless of blemishes. Please carefully review pictures in case I missed anything.
