I picked this up today at a garage sale for 20 bucks for my 2 year old who loved it. When I was dragging it home, I was stopped and asked where I got it. The guy told me that it was worth around 400 bucks. He was pretty pissed he missed the deal. I'm trying to do some research about it, but I can really only find restorations, and I'm pretty sure this is an original...but I don't really know. Anybody have any clues on how to tell? TIA!

Have you found any markings on it ? how about some close up photos of the screws etc used in the plane,
And even the repop planes sell for 350 to 400 etc depending on the dealer.

this is an image of an original steelcraft plane. notice the difference in the seat etc. also the older ones would not have a sticker in the seat back like yours has.

There is still a chance it could be a Murray or Steelcraft, the detective work is up to you . there are plenty of examples on the internet of both, and of the new repops , if u could post more photos of yours the bottom and running gear etc. that could also help.
